When We Meet, We Change
My project explores the influence of individuals, feelings, and the connections between them.
The most important thing that shapes a space is your company, the ones you share it with.
I use colored light as a metaphor for the energy that each person embodies. If I shine two different lights onto you, my red might mix with your blue to create a new atmosphere, one that shifts when others, for example green, join in. What interests me isn’t the light itself, but the spaces and moods these combinations create.
In my sessions, I shine two colors together to explore how they blend, how yellow turns green when mixed, just as we change depending on who we are with. Others influence how we feel, act, and even see ourselves.
In the first round of sessions, I photographed participants and asked how they felt and what the lights evoked. But I realized the photos alone didn’t capture the essence of our exchanges.
So in the second round, I invited each participant into my home, spending an evening together. The process became more like a conversation or therapy session, recorded on video and later edited into 5-minute highlight.
